For several years I've used a method to take photos of myself, making use of a mirror, in order to turn the camera facing myself, and see the image I would be taking with the reflection in the mirror. I experimented with the basic auto mode, the portrait setting, and my usual setting, of macro. The location can be either a bathroom or a bedroom, or anywhere I could place a mirror, but I generally stuck with my bathroom mirror, considering the height of it, and the lighting in there. Time of day did not play a role, since the lighting was man-made as opposed to natural. Since I wear glasses, no one really sees me without them, so naturally when photographing for this assignment, and generally, I photograph with them off. I also liked to experiment with editing different versions of the same photo, with a slightly different coloration and editing techniques, to give off different effects. So personally, it was successful in a different manner, especially the top image, which I created by screening a image of myself over text, which is a technique I've used for other creations, but never with myself.
